I had the honor of interviewing singer Brayden Gomer and guitarist Britt Spurka of the band sugar on the dashboard-

Me: So my first question is, for those that aren’t familiar with you, describe your music
BS: I would best describe us as an Alternative Rock band. Our goal is to bring back that stadium rock sound that isn’t really present in today’s music scene.

Me: Stadium rock?, like queen?
BC: More like a band for the masses. Queen would be one example, but think of all the bands that people just dig. They don’t know what it is about them but those bands have that certain energy about them that gets them to pack stadiums. In this band we believe that we have that energy that can bring people into stadiums. It translates into everything we do because that’s the type of band we want to be. That’s probably the best way to describe our vibe. Our sound ranges to pretty much anything we feel. We try to mix it all in there.

Me: So you have very energetic shows?
BC: Definitely. Anyone who has ever seen us will tell you that we love being on stage and we’re very energetic. Playing live and having energetic shows is what separates the good from the great. Any musician can play good and play the songs right but when they can move around and make it a show, that’s what makes them great in our opinion.

Me: I see, how’s that going to reflect on to your CD?
BS: I think you can definitely feel that energy in our music without even ever seeing a show. The best part is that each of the songs on this EP sound so different from one another and we think that really sets us apart from other bands.

Me: There’s a wide variety of genres on it?
BC: Definitely. We don’t want to be a one trick pony. It all follows under the category of “alternative rock” but we do what we feel like doing through each song. Most bands feel the need to stick to one thing and be done with it but we’re just not like that. If we feel like writing a darker heavier rock song we’ll do that and if we feel like writing a lighter more poppy song we’ll do that. We’re not just musicians, we’re people, and as people we feel different things and that comes out in the type of songs we write but no matter what we’ll write what and how we feel if that makes sense.

Me: I see, that’s awesome!, so what’s your current/most recent project?
BC: Our music video we just released about a week ago for our new song “Come Inside”. It was super rad. It’s the first video we’ve ever done and are super stoked about it. We’re also coming out with an EP very very VERY soon. Other than that, just trying to make it in this music industry…that’s our constant project.

Me: EP next month?, what will it be called?
BS: The EP is named F.I.N.E. and will have 4 new songs.

Me: Awesome!, is there a tour with it?
BC: We hope so! We definitely want to be on the road soon so fingers crossed.

Me: Awesome!, so what else can we expect from you in the future?
BC: We definitely plan on touring eventually and releasing our EP. After that we plan on just kicking ass getting our music out to as many people as we can and getting signed. We’re looking forward to the future for sure.

Me: Well we definitely look forward to it!, so my last question is, from reading my blog, you can tell I’m a Christian, what are your spiritual views and how do they affect your music?
BC: We don’t incorporate any spiritual views into our music. We’re not a Christian band or anything so our songs don’t reflect any religious messages.
